The secret behind the GMail pixels
It will be noticed surely some of you: you surf with the current GMail Firefox, appears in the upper left a 4 pixel by 4 pixels large grey “spot” – without interaction. Nothing behind special, but only a feature of GMail chat which accidentally shows – unfortunately.
The pixel spot is 2 each other nested iFrames loaded file sound.swf. This file is used only for playing a short sound file when it receives of a new message – no more and no less. Since Google has forgotten the white background of this iFrames – currently it is transparent and therefore it shows the gray default frame from FF to – this block is displayed.
So much ado about nothing and to a spot which certainly in a few days disappears again;-)
