Google founders pull back

SEC according to plan an official request to the American securities and Exchange Commission to sell the two Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin fifth years parts their shareholding in the own company. Currently keep both together 57.7 million shares or 59% of the voting rights. A reduction in 48% of the voting rights is planned…

The already late last year submitted application indicating that Larry page and Sergey Brin want to reduce their shareholdings to each 5 million shares to together 47.7 million shares. Google is at least officially no longer under control of page and Brin with only 48% of the voting rights.

[...] Larry and Sergey currently hold approximately 57.7 million shares of Class B common stock, which represents approximately 18% of Google’s outstanding capital stock and approximately 59% of the voting power of Google’s outstanding capital stock [...]

[...] If Larry and Sergey complete all the planned sales under these Rule 10b5-1 trading plans, they would continue to collectively own approximately 47.7 million shares, which would represent approximately 15% of Google’s outstanding capital stock and approximately 48% of the voting power of Google’s outstanding capital stock [...]

Über Gründe für den geplanten Verkauf bzw. die dahinter stehende Intention, vermag ich mir bei Zahlen derartiger Größenordnung kein Urteil zu bilden, gut möglich aber, dass die beiden Gründer ihr Unternehmen nach außen ein Stück weit `demokratisieren´ wollen, während man zusammen mit den Aktien und den damit verbundenen Stimmrechten von Eric Schmidt das interne Führungszepter weiter fest in eigenen Händen weiß…
