Blogparade: Web design
Somehow I’m always late on Blogparaden. I discovered also that weeks ago, but so far no time found participate. Now it is again a few week end but because the topic is quite interesting, I still want to participate.
The theme of Blogparade is “Web design”, where the quite distantly sounds. However, this Blogparade aimed primarily at blogger and therefore is primarily to blog designs and themes.
Blogparade “Web Design”
How important is the theme for blogs and websites at all. We look at some of the most successful websites, then imagine little, that there much attention Web design. MySpace, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, etc. have relatively boring and partially really unfortunate layouts. At least nothing that we would now nominate for a design award.
But on the other hand there is a quantity blogs and Web sites are really nice and where the design well supports the content safely. Thus equal to the first question…
1. How important is your blog theme to you?
It is. A blog should set the contents to the top to me. Blogs live from the information and less of the “optical experience”. Therefore, I appreciate more simpler, more subtle layout when blogs.
There are some blogs I would her already read the content if because the design would interfere with. It is overly designed and including suffers the table or it looks really mies from. The result is the same.
At least if there is content like blogs, the layout can make a difference already. But a bad content blog will probably rarely successful great design. Therefore you should rather focus most of its energy on the content.
In particular a good first impression and make a strong recognition effect good design.
2. What experience do you have with Web design?
I myself, ahm… am designers, can I use a lot of experience. I don’t like the term Web designers but, because I understand especially graphics Bastler including which want to make it possible nicely but ROI etc. have never heard.
But this is not my way of creating a Web site. The layout is the result of the objectives and functions of the site and to optimally support the success. “Form follows function” so to speak. Therefore my websites and blogs are the most beautiful always objectively.
3. Have you created your theme itself or it used a free/purchased?
My blog theme is based on a freely available. But, I have so much changed because in the last 12 months and herumgebastelt hardly what the original theme is present.
Free themes there really many and including are indeed many good. The problem is but then various blogs using the same theme and may the recognition effect is lost.
But currently this recognition effect is very important not submerged in the unmanageable mass of blogs.
4. Do you yourself have programs such as Photoshop, Fireworks, or GIMP?
I think GIMP too crowded. But this is probably simply peculiar ledger. I use for many years Photoshop (current CS2) and know from me that almost blind. Difficult because it has any other program.
5. Dominated their CSS? (If Yes, how much experience ye so.
I am very long using CSS. After my first site design based on tables, I’ve experimented with CSS. It was while long not yet perfect, but after I used more CSS.
CSS very facilitates the creation and maintenance of layout and it also streamlined the code when to use it correctly. Should can already who wants to create its own WordPress layout or modify CSS.
These were also the questions Blogparade “Web Design”. Bearing in mind the many blogs that arise daily, it is really interesting to see what is the role of the design at all.
There are some bloggers focused very much on the layout. But for many more bloggers, the design seems to be relatively unimportant.
