Bing – analysis I

Who looks at Bing once, quickly fall on the parallels with the market leader Google. So Microsoft has admitted the essential elements to little experiments which the SERPs at first sight for Otto normal user from the Google SERPs are indistinguishable.

This similarity is particularly evident when to remove the branding and look only on the actual SERPs. The screenshots on the left show a snippet of search for the keyword “iPhone” in bing.com and google.com. Because I think it’s quite realistic that Bing actually served a relevant part of the market, I would in a multi-part series on bing.com comment and analyse the results.

The first part of the analysis I have compares several thousand keywords and the adjacent SERP positions of google.com and bing.com. Because after all it would be definitely convenient for SEOs if Bing and Google were very similar to itself in the algorithm. Parsing, I’m done I each positioning to a keyword have looked the Google and then the Bing have compared with these positions. It follows that a page somehow positioned on Google at Bing better, equal to, less or even no can… be positioned in the Top100

The screenshot shows the y-axis positions 1 to 100 of Google.com SERPs. The X-axis shows how the corresponding position in percentage results positioned at Bing. The resulting four processes that show a corresponding trend. The results of course expecting together each, you get the results of the first chart.

Considering only the Google top ten, is the probability that the corresponding page at Bing to find is many times higher. This is of course logically but also an indicator that Bing has at least a similar algorithm, attributable to trust pages.

Brand Search Bing also uses this algorithm to show a result in some searches. This brand searches shows whenever if you a result map search phrase with great hit probability as approximately with the search after YouTube or Facebook, where even the customer hotline appears Bing. Additional results appear only with another click. The screenshot shows how big stake brand searches in relation to the overall share of searches is not negligible.

In the next part of this series I would like to examine what it actually is the Bing ranking walking factors and also compare with key ranking walking drivers from Google.com…
